Well, here goes nothing...

Well, what can I say?

I've been bitten.

I've finally got the photography bug, and it's amazing!  I have generally always been curious about "proper" photography, and always enjoyed playing about with the camera on my smartphone, but I was always frustrated that I couldn't get the results that I wanted.

This all changed when I spoke to my friend Jamie.  He is an incredible photographer who after talking to him about the kinds of photography that I wanted to do managed to point me in the right direction of what to look for, and also managed to make it seem much less daunting that it appears when reading about it on the Internet.  So after this series of conversations, and much research into entry level DSLR cameras, I finally took the plunge and bought a Nikon D3300 with 18mm - 55mm VRII Kit lens, a small bag, and a 64Gb memory card (as I thought i'd be taking MILLIONS of shots, and then uploading them en mass onto the pc in a blizzard of what I would hope would be classified as some funky form of creative genius.

The one thing I really have to say though, is how grateful I am to Jamie for his help.  He'd say that he really hasn't done that much, but he has kept me pointed in the right direction while I go on a crazy, almost insatiable mine for as much knowledge on what it takes to take a good photo as compared to a bad one.  And several days worth of pestering at various times of the day nattering on about what filters would be best to start with, what brands are worth considering, the list of questions went on and on!  How he stayed so patient with me, I honestly can't say, but I am in his debt for everything he has taught me so far!

I seriously recommend that you go see his work.  You can visit his blog here >Click<

I just realised that I've written a bit of a wall of text, so I'll finish here.  What I hope to achieve with this blog is to show my progression from absolute beginner, and then see where I end up at.  I hope it'll be a learning experience, and I'll be happy to share those moments with you all.

Happy shooting!
